Welcome to Doggie Stays and Getaways! We are so grateful you are considering us with the trust and safety of your fur baby for boarding, daycare and/or training. We offer a unique dog boarding experience with an emphasis on balanced play, outdoor exercise and positive socialization skills.
We treat every dog like our own-we tend to think of ourselves as helping to co-raise your pup! We have strong roots based in dog psychology, pack mentality, pack leadership and allowing every dog to feel welcomed, comfortable and loved while staying at our home.
We pride ourselves on understanding dogs, and taking the time to integrate them into the pack each and every time they stay with us (whether for daycare or boarding). Instead of having your pup enter a room or yard of dozens (or hundreds) of dogs and increasing their stress levels when dropped off, we take the time to integrate your dog in a slow, low stress, one-on-one greeting with every dog in the pack. When dogs are introduced to a pack individually, outside, off leash, and in a controlled and rhythmic manner, the chances of ill-behavior, stress, aggression, and shyness significantly decrease.
Lila trained with Cesar Millan at his Dog Psychology Center in CA and brings her intuitive side of dog training to the pack each and every day. While we offer endless amounts of love, pets and snuggles to the pups (yes, they are allowed on our furniture and we do have a “cuddle corner”), we also know how to balance a dog (or a pack) with clear rules, boundaries and limitations. If a dog doesn’t give enough boundaries/communication to other dogs we help reinforce their communication and build their confidence. If a dog is not listening to another dog’s communication or boundaries, we emphasis it so they can understand it better. Each and every dog is just as unique as a child, and we strive for healthy and balanced dog socialization and communication within the pack.
We constantly monitor a dog’s nervous system and energy state (as well as the packs’) to ensure everyone’s physical and mental needs are met daily. We know when a dog is too hyper, too shy, too dominate, too scared, too loud, etc. and can help it achieve a state of balance and comfort within the pack. Dogs generally pull their owners to our backyard when they arrive for dropoff as they just can’t wait to play!
As pack leaders, we strive for a state of calm, confidence, love and joy and allow that mentality to rub off on the dogs. Dog’s are prone to matching their pack leaders and we use that to our advantage to create a very happy pack dynamic.
After a day full of play, learning and exercise, dog's have the choice of sleeping on a couch, dog bed, carpeted floor, hardwood floor or large small crates in our training and housing den located on property. We tend to follow your rhythm with your dog at home in that if you crate them at night then we will, and if not, then we generally don't. Dog's from different households remain separated while sleeping and all dog's are soothed asleep at night and nap time with Doggie Relaxation music. We never allow dogs to bark longer than a few minutes when it's time for rest or sleep, and all training methods we implore during the day is to help dogs get as comfortable here as they do at home so good and restful sleep can occur.
Because your dog stays at our home, we do not separate dogs by size and accept dogs of all breeds, ages and sizes as long as they are human and dog friendly. Each dog is required to pass a meet and greet screening and all dogs over the age of 1 are required to be spayed/neutered and up to date on all shots including bordetella and rabies. Puppies 1 year and younger are required to be up to date on shots outlined by their individual vet and we do not take female dogs in heat or within 2 weeks of a previous heat cycle.
If interested in having your dog board, train and/or have daycare with us, please go to our *scheduling* page to request a meet and greet. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming your pup to our pack family!
